Staying in Palmeras

We heard there was a possible out break of dengue fever in Santa Marta which was near our next stop in Tanganga. So, we decided that we would stay here another three days instead of traveling in that direction. Life is very relaxing here, the people are friendly, and it is very safe on the island.

We get up in the morning and have our breakfast with the other guests that are here. After breakfast, we go to the beach and swim, read and come back for lunch.

Then we take a siesta, relax and write on our blog. It is very hot in the afternoon but there is always a breeze so we stay in the shade. In the late afternoon we go back to the beach for a swim. It takes about 15 minutes to walk through the jungle to get to the beach. We come back, hang out, have supper and go to bed around 8:00-8:30.

Today, our English language school began with one student, our canoe tour guide, Robinson. He wants to learn how to speak English so he can communicate with the tourists. We worked on conversations he would need for his tour business and how to pronounce letters and words.

Half way through the session Ana Rosa's husband, Manuel, came by to clean the tables around us and looked like he was interested in what were doing. Jane asked him if he would like to join us. He sat right down and we had pupil number two. We worked about 2 1/2 hours.

After school was over we went back to the beach. On our walk to the beach we always find something interesting. Today we discovered a flock of peacocks, just walking around the jungle.

After our swim we returned home for supper and the end of another day.
