After much reading and discussion we have decided on the three places we will visit.
Bogota
We arrive and depart from El Dorado International Airport, BOG. We will be staying at Platypus Hostal while in Bogota.
Made a connection with Mike the owner of Bogota Bike Tours. Will take a bike tour with him around the city. Later Mike is going to take us to La Casa del Colibries where we will meet with the director of an organization that works with poor and displaced families in Bogota. We will meet with some of the children and we are bringing a backpack of school supplies with us to donate to the organization.
We will spend the rest of our days touring the city and some of the country side. More to follow....
Cartagenia
We will fly to Cartagenia and spend two days at Hostal Real and figure out how we will get to Isla Grande by boat. Cartagenia is known for the quality of the Emeralds that are sold there. It is also a big tourist destination. More to follow....
Isla Grande
We are planning on spending four days on this island. It is an hour boat ride to the island. We will be staying at Las Palmeras, a rustic place run by a woman named Rosa. There is an out house and the showers are rain water and a coconut shell!! The huts have a bed with mosquito netting. Sounded really interesting. More to follow....
